The photos to the right capture the type of accommodation available at the Rusty Anchor Backpackers.It is a purpose built backpackers,upgraded in 2006 to a very high standard. Many guests comment that it is the cleanest, most spacious and definately one of the top 10 list of backpackers they have encountered-and with great sea views!
Most rooms at the Rusty Anchor have direct deck access and those on the upper level are provided with a comfortable lounge area and sea views. Rooms comprise of mainly shared accommodation sleeping up to four or six guests per room in bunk-beds. We also have double rooms with a queen size bed or double bunk-bed. In total the Rusty Anchor caters for 21 in-house guests. We can also provide up to 15 sheltered tent sites and 8 powered van sites,with access to the backpacker kitchen and bathroom facilities.
Room with view - $65 per couple,$20 per extra person (sleeps 4)
Queen Suite - $65 per couple
Family Room - $65 per couple,$20 per extra person (sleeps 5)
Bunk rooms - $25 per person (4 or 6 share)
Tent sites from $10 per person a night
A private BBQ area enables guests to relax and socialise around the six tables with umbrellas and free use of the BBQ's. We also have snorkel equipment,bodyboards and mountain bikes for hire. Attached to the backpackers is an Information Centre providing Internet access and are able to book many of the local activities.
The Rusty Anchor has plenty of parking and is well situated opposite the Whatuwhiwhi shopping centre including a takeaway/fish and chip shop,Laundromat,bar,liquor shop,dairy and service station.
